Great Room

This room is the heart and soul of the home, the center of our Christian retreat in Texas. From the moment you enter, the hand carved mantel stating “God is my refuge” is a welcome invitation to all guests to come rest, enjoy and fellowship around the Austin stone fireplace. Two needlepoint sofas done in soft green and roses set against a black background provide a dramatic color scheme, while the leather and suede chairs invite you to come on in, take your boots off and enjoy a conversation with friends or a quiet moment by yourself. Guests frequently ask about the antique “Texas pine floors that went to Chicago for buildings and returned to Selah for floors.”

The beautiful Texas landscape and gardens are always providing guests an invitation to come outside through the 10 foot expanse of glass overlooking the back patio or the front wall of glass which overlooks the 30 foot front veranda. The only difficulty is choosing which view to inhale at our Texas ranch resort.

Take a glass of fruited tea or cup of coffee and homemade cookie outside to enjoy spectacular views from sunup to sundown. The electric grand piano, huge armoire full of games and four antique pine game tables, as well as two large Texas pecan dining tables provide hours of enjoyment for groups, special occasion dinners, or meetings and seminars.

The 10 foot mural in the dining area provides an artistic rendering of the ranch property and local game spotted by residents. A pull down screen completes the provision for meetings that require power point or slide presentations.

French doors leading from the Great Room to the Sun Room provide flexibility of a separate dining or meeting area, as well as providing Great Room guests privacy while meals are being set up in the Sun Room. For larger events, the Sun Room is often used to expand the Great Room function.
